Traveling pastor William Foster held the first services in the area in the year 1812. The services were held in huts and dwellings. In 1819 a church was built on the farm of John George Swingle. This church was used until the year 1831 when a new church was built 1/2 mile south of Stovertown at the current location. In 1851 a plain, neat frame church was built at the cost of $1,000. Finally in 1878 the current church was built and is still in use today.
Today, services continue to be held every Sunday. With the beliefs and values that the first settlers instilled in our foundation, we can continue to grow and adapt as a congregation.
